Running Team

2018 Bataan Memorial Death March

Mission

The Flying Gophers Running team promotes running, camaraderie, and self-improvement through weekly practices and races during the year. Runners at all ability levels are encouraged to participate; the goal is to run faster, not necessarily to be the fastest. By promoting a spirit of self-improvement together, we hope to create an environment where cadets can come to relax, have fun, and improve their running abilities.

What We Do

By participating in practices and races throughout the year, Flying Gophers Running team promotes varied training with the goal of improving the overall fitness of cadets. We compete in the ROTC division at the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, DC every fall and the Bataan Memorial Death March/Marathon at White Sands Missile Range, NM in the spring. In addition to the Ten-Miler and Bataan, we run multiple 5ks and 10ks throughout the year, which promotes friendship and camaraderie between members of the team. By having fun, we hope to make running an activity that is more accessible and enjoyable to all cadets.
